WE ARE VISUAL SIGNO

DESIGN & CULTURAL INTELLIGENCE

We love to see our clients discovering how they can connect with their global consumers on a deeper level.

Visual Signo is a strategic cultural communications and semiotics consultancy helping clients around the world make informed brand management decisions by understanding and anticipating shifting cultural and visual landscapes.

THE CREATIVE POWER OF

DESIGN THINKING

THE RICHNESS OF

CULTURAL THEORY

HELPING MAKE INFORMED BRAND AND MARKETING DECISIONS

Our clients love the way we manage to make innovation seem simple and to slide easily from creativity into rational, visual and executable results.

GLOCAL THINKING

From our  base in the UK we work constantly with a global network of semioticians, anthropologists and designers around the world, so you can be assured that our insights are not European-biased.
OUR CLIENTS MAY ASK US QUESTIONS LIKE
  • Which cultural and visual codes are driving my category?
  • Which platforms can we use when developing and launching a new product or brand in a new country?
  • What should we be doing to better connect with consumers in emerging markets?
  • How can I take my designs to a next level to best engage the consumers we want to target?
  • How can we develop a coherent global brand story that is relevant to different cultures?
Our process always begins by understanding our client’s brand and strategic priorities before developing a problem statement with clear objectives.
After collecting, exploring and analysing data tailored to our clients’ specific questions, each Visual Signo project ends with a coherent series of recommendations to be implemented in order to meet the stated objectives. Our clients love our thorough reports which are full of  clear, usable and strategically-aligned recommendations.

LUCIA LAURENT-NEVA

FOUNDER

Visual Signo founder Lucia Laurent-Neva is, paradoxically, never more at home than when she is immersing herself in the environment of her client’s current or potential future consumers. Since 2001 she has been applying her knowledge of anthropology, design theory and marketing semiotics to strategic brand management problems.

Lucia’s interest in the practical applications of cultural semiotics began while she was a professor and lecturer at a top Colombian university and evolved through senior roles at two London marketing-strategic consultancies. There is no better training for the experience of having to convert complex cultural data and analyses into clear and relevant design insights.

As owner of Visual Signo and co-founder of Semiofest she is now responsible for demonstrating semiotics’ increasing relevance to global brand strategy in commercial organisations. Her team are at the cutting-edge of their field and her clients recognise this.

Visual signs have shaped culture since the beginning of time. They orient our beliefs, guide our perceptions and provide us with multiple sensorial connections. All communication has a connection with the visual realm, even sounds.”
